Boulder named Best American Town to Live Well by Forbes
Posted On May 7th, 2009 by Grace | Comment (1)Forbes.com has listed the top American towns to live well. The regions boast cultural amenities, pro-business environments, highly educated workforces and enviable salaries. The data Forbes used to determine the list comes from ZoomProspector.com, a consulting firm based in San Francisco specializing in corporate relocation. It evaluated areas of the country with less than 100,000 people. Due to differing regional definitions, the label “town” was used for any city, township, borough or Census-designated place with such populations. Characteristics like the number of museums, parks, bars and restaurants, and cultural institutions per capita were considered, as were factors indicative of a favorable business environment. These include patents, venture capital funding, sole-proprietorships, start-ups and small businesses per capita.
FIRST-TIME HOME BUYERS TAX CREDIT
Posted On April 29th, 2009 by Grace | Comments ClosedNow is a great time to buy! What is that? Among the many reasons is the First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit. The American Recovery and Reinvestmen Act of 2009 authorizes a tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence anytime in 2009 before December 1st. The amount of the tax credit is equal to 10% of the home’s purchase up to a mazimum of $8,000. So what exactly is a “first-time home buyer?” A “first-time home buyer” is someone who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase. All homes that are used as a principal residence qualify for the credit, which includes single-family detached homes, attached homes like townhomes and condos, mobile homes, and houseboats.
